About me
My career focus has always been in embedded computing. I spent the 90's designing operator controls for deep water ROVs (remotely operated vehicles) that culminated in a HMS Titanic adventure. I followed this with a decade of developing IOT systems for monitoing alternate-energy homes. Along the way I developed a passion for FIRST and started a non profit (GEARS Inc.) to support robotics teams in the western Maryland area. I started coaching FLL in 2005, FTC in 2006 and FTC in 2008. In 2016 I joined the "FTC Tech team" to help troubleshoot performance issues and create OpMode samples for new teams. In 2020, i was honored to receive the FIRST Tech Challenge Volunteer of the the year award. I'm active with 4-H and have recently designed a low cost ROV for clubs to use to explore the world of underwater robotics.
